Who We Are: The Post-Metal Band Behind Plague God
If you've ever sat through all eight and a half minutes of "The Acres/The Ache", you already know we don't do anything in a hurry. Here's a quick guide to who we are and where our sound comes from, for new listeners and old ones.
Where did Absent in Body come from?
We started in 2017 as an idea shared by Mathieu J. Vandekerckhove, guitarist of the Belgian band Amenra, and Scott Kelly, then of Neurosis. Amenra's Colin H. Van Eeckhout joined later, and Iggor Cavalera, the former Sepultura drummer, completed the line-up.
Who plays what?
- Mathieu J. Vandekerckhove: guitar
- Scott Kelly: vocals and guitar
- Colin H. Van Eeckhout: vocals and bass
- Iggor Cavalera: drums
What do we sound like?
Slow, dense and heavy. We file it under post-metal and sludge, with doom and ambient close by: long drones, tribal drums and riffs that grind instead of race.
The album: Plague God
