Skulls, Spikes and AIB: The Art Behind Our Absent in Body Designs
Every design in our store comes from the Absent in Body world, and most of them circle back to one record: our 2022 debut, Plague God. Here's what each one shows, front and back.
Which designs carry Plague God?
- Plague God Skull: a steel-blue beast skull on the front; on the back, a spiked red ring, the band name, the AIB monogram and PLAGUE GOD.
- Red Skull: a half-lit red skull with an outlined AIB and the band name on the front, and PLAGUE GOD in outline type on the back.
- Spiked Ring: a big ring of hooked red spikes on the front, and the name, AIB and Plague God lockup on the back.
Why so many skulls?
The Plague God cover shows a skull sculpted by the artist Dolen Carag, meant to look like the remains of a creature that feels familiar but unknown. Our skull designs share that mood:
- Pale Skull: a long-snouted beast skull in pale ice blue, with the band name traced across the back.
- Skull Sigil: a white and grey skull with a small red spiked ring, front only.
- AIB Profile Skull: a slate-blue skull in profile, with a huge blackletter AIB on the back.
- Horned Skull: a white horned skull under a thin red AIB, with the spiked ring on the back.
What does AIB stand for?
Just our initials: Absent In Body. On our designs it's drawn in sharp blackletter, sometimes solid, sometimes as a thin outline.
Tip: check the back
Six of the seven designs are two-sided. The product page always says what is on the front and on the back.
Every product page also has its own size chart.
